The advertising print production supervisor develops the subject matter and the presentation of the advertising at the advertising agency or within an advertising medium. They are responsible for coordinating the activities of design, illustration, photography, and paste up personnel who must prepare advertisements for publication. The advertising print production supervisor must over see the personnel engaged in pasting up the advertising layouts, as they are overseeing the layout; they determine the arrangement of the artwork and photographs as well as the size of type for the layout. The advertising print production supervisor must consider factors such as size, design, layout and method of printing during the pasting process. When the layout process is complete the advertising print production supervisor must contact the printing firm if printing is not done in house and submit the copy and printing instructions to them so that they may begin printing. To become an advertising print production supervisor a bachelor’s degree is not necessary but one must have a few years of training or experience in the print production field in order to have the knowledge to supervise in this time sensitive field.
