Account management is a lucrative field that has created many job opportunities for all aspiring candidates. An advertising account executive is the main link between the agency and the client. He or she is responsible for providing reports to the account manager. All client ad campaigns are the responsibility of the advertising account executive. For campaign coordination, he or she acts as a liaison between the agency staff and clients.

Job Responsibilities

An advertising account executive is responsible for the management and organization of all administrative tasks so they are completed within the budget and the set deadline. He or she must manage a high volume of accounts. He or she has the obligation to discuss services, ads and product requirements a client have, set up meetings related to these issues and discussions and delegate tasks to advertising members. He or she must work in collaboration with the account manager to complete media briefing tasks, oversee the staff and oversee creative functions. The executive also assumes the responsibility to develop strategies for the marketing department.



He or she must ensure there is communication between the agency and the clients oversee the entire ad campaign and check the status and work progress. This individual also negotiates between the agency and clients to obtain advertising contracts. He or she also prepares advertising campaign presentations to clients for approval. The person in this position must also do revisions as required.

Skills That an Advertising Account Executive Must Possess

He or she must have important skills like working as a team with other department members. Interpersonal and communication skills are important to understand the needs of clients. The person must think proactively and be well organized. He or she should be self-motivated persuade and motivate the others. An executive have passion for his or her job and the company along with the ability to compile information work under strenuous conditions. He or she must be able to focus on the project at hand and have a good eye for detail.

Other skills and requirements a person in this field should have are awareness related to commercial aspects, willpower to work as a team, resilience, ability to handle all budget restrictions and monitor them, management of administration, completing all tasks within the given deadlines, maintenance of records etc. These are some of the skills an advertising account executive must possess.

Educational Requirements

A person with an undergraduate degree or diploma can enter this field. Many companies prefer candidates who have a degree in HND, advertising, communications or marketing. English majors and business management students can also apply for this position.

The salary of an advertising account executive usually is between $26,000 and $48,000 depending on the employer or the agency, experience and qualifications of the candidate. The location of the agency will also affect the salary paid to an advertising account executive.

Because of commercialization, the industry of advertising has advanced to a complete different level; therefore the growth in this position has also advanced and will experience better growth in the near future. The competition in this field is very high since there are more candidates that there are jobs. Having excellent skills and a degree will greatly improve job placement possibilities.
