Job Summary

As a Manager of Data Science, you are responsible for researching and applying complex, cutting edge, and scalable algorithms to deliver valuable data and insights to our internal/ external stakeholders. The desired candidate will work with a team of talented data scientists, Big Data engineers, and software developers as you play a key role in developing and delivering the next generation AI/ML solutions to the business. In collaboration with colleagues and leaders, the candidate will support decision-making by fostering a data-driven culture that allows uncertainty to be mitigated by delivering minimal viable solutions. You will be accountable for end-to-end ownership including designing, building, and delivering meaningful insights based on big data collection, analysis, and modelling of first-and-third party data. In addition, you will lead team to higher levels of productivity to assess what works and what changes should be made to optimize for the long term. Ensure that your team is producing consistently trustworthy and high-quality technical outputs that influence the business by applying strong analytical rigor to dissect problems, build workflows, provide recommendations and drive overall success.

Job Description

Who does the Manager, Data Science work with?The Data Science team is a part of our Data Science, Engineering and Analytics team which is a diverse collection of professionals who work with a variety of organizational roles ranging from software engineering teams whose software integrates with analytics services, network architects and engineers, to service delivery engineers who provide support for our product, testers, operational stakeholders with all manner of information needs, and executives who rely on data for data based decision making.We're looking for someone to be a hands-on technical manager in building models and developing insights in addition to mentoring and guiding junior team members.

Job Responsibilities


Work with cross-functional teams and senior management to plan and execute initiatives.

Leverage numerous data sources to identify opportunities to infuse data driven decisions.

Conduct analyses to inform and optimize planning, translate analytical results into strategy, build experiments to prove impact of data science techniques and implement decisions.





Creates actionable recommendations and insights, to address business objectives, through the analysis and modeling of quantitative and qualitative data.

Define critical metrics and measure & report on the business impact of domain specific data science solutions.

Conducts approval and prioritization of ad-hoc requests; appropriately allocates resources to achieve goals.

Assesses current-state capabilities and designs solutions for client challenges.

Identifies strategic opportunities, strengths, weaknesses and threats of department/team to determine and implement strategic plans.

Manages the performance of projects, tasks, deliverables and team members.

Leads a team of exempt and non-exempt employees while serving as a mentor, leader and subject matter expert.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Skills, Experience And Requirements


BS/MS in Economics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science or 5 years' experience within a related industry focused on TV/digital advertising.

Key skillsets: Statistical analysis, machine learning, software development, code fluency (SQL, Spark, Python, R) is a plus.

Proficient in at least one programming language (Python, R, Pyspark) and working experience using AWS tool stack is a plus.

Experience with manipulating data sets and building statistical models

Ability to work effectively independently and with cross-functional teams to perform planning and execution of initiatives, manage priorities and commitments, and meet deadlines

Experience with both technical and non-technical presentation of analytic results and strong attention to detail

Experience managing/coaching junior members on the team

Strong analytical skills set with ability to wrangle big data and perform analysis and draw meaningful insights

Ability to engage with internal stakeholders and translate into data science requirements and stakeholder management

Working experience in building models and applying machine learning techniques
