Geared towards increasing sales revenues, an advertising campaign needs to have good graphic content that attracts customers and sparks responses. “Promotion is not what you do to your product, but what you do to the minds of the prospects.” Graphic content is the first thing that is noticed in any visual advertisement, so the role of a designer becomes very important. A graphic designer may study the details about the ad campaign and use his or her creativity and artistry to prepare attention-grabbing visuals which suit the client's requirements. A designer integrates different types of media, meets size restrictions, and ensures graphic effectiveness. Designers also make use of flash advertisements, animation, and other design tools to enhance graphic appeal. Roles with similar duties are 3D designer, 3D artist, graphic designer, animation specialist, among others.One can find graphic designer jobs with IT companies, online advertising companies, news agencies, broadcast centers, TV channels, and the like. A high school diploma or GED may be sufficient for these jobs in terms of educational requirements. A good understanding of brand development and brand management may also be very helpful. Designers should be proficient in the use of InDesign, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as have understanding of creation media for web advertising (e.g., flash, gif, and video).
